WHAT?!

So here is the short version of the story: I tweaked my back last night and was late to work today as I, admitedly, slept in. When I got to work today this was on my desk...
One of the guys I work with is in a cake decorating class with his girlfriend and brought me in one of his cakes. I had told him what my dream wedding cake looks like... well picture this but all white and no flowers... oh and no pink candle! I was so happy my back does not hurt anymore!

Tagin Fun!!

Thanks Wretchel!! Here's how it works: The first five people to leave me a comment get something made by me just for them. It can be anything I want, I get to choose. It can be silly or serious, edible or not, but don't plan on anything alive. There are a few rules involved (aren't there always?):

1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2- What I create will be just for you.
3- It will be done sometime this year (Don't expect grand things if it takes a long time. I'm just lazy!).
4- You have no clue what it's going to be. (The choice is mine! --insert evil laugh here--)
5- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange and/or silly.

The catch is that you must repost this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on your blog. The first 5 people to do so and leave a comment telling me they've posted on their blog win a hand made, super creative, possibly lovely whatever in the heck I decide! Be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it!

Today is Day 105

It has been a while since I gave a Mom update... sorry Mom's friends who come to my blog only to read about her. The above pic is one I took of Mom today. Overall she is doing well. She caught a NASTY cold a month ago and still is not well from it. It should be noted I caught it too and was down for 3 days; this shows how compromised her immune system really is.
Mom had her remission tests (100 day tests) last week. We get the results on Friday the 13th (insert creepy laugh here.) These tests included a bone marrow biospy, a full body x-ray, and lots of blood work. The tests were delayed a week because of her illness. She was not able to take the pulminary test because she still has a cough. They wait 100 days to do the tests because they feel that 100 days is enough to know if the transplant worked or not.
So Friday is Remission Day. If she is in remission the whole family is going to dinner at the Olive Garden because mom misses the salad!! If she is not in remission the whole family is going to Wendy's. It was going to be McDonalds but really if she is not in remission there is no reason to punish all of us. (Don't tell her but we will go to Olive Garden no matter what, we are just giving her a hard time. Mom has really had to be careful when it comes to salad so I think since October she has maybe had salad three times.)
Mom's hair started growing back last month and she now has a nice head of mostly grey hair. Sorry Mom, just calling it as it is! But it is SO soft!! She also stands mostly upright again in all of her 5'3" glory. Mom has always been taller than I have been but has lost 5 inches or so since her bones started breaking due to the cancer; I can't tell if it is asensitive subject or not. I called her shorty yesterday and she might have been offended. Her doctors released her to start cleaning house again and can I tell you that the next morning we woke up to her vacuuming, bless her.
That is the update. Pray for good results Friday!!

#27 done

#27 on my list of 101 is: Organize a friend's service project.

The Benefit Bash for Shawn last Saturday was AWESOME!! First off it should be noted that Shawn has some great friends who were super willing to help, then it should be noted that I have great friends who do not know Shawn that were super willing to help too. Candice, as per usual, is my right hand... which is good right now since I have limited use of my actual right hand. (rim shot) Then Laren was great to tackle the silent auction and Liz, my favorite syncro swim partner, I could almost hire you as my life coach!

Shall we talk about the talent? Jeffery and Rick, what more can I say then thanks!! Jeffery you are one of the funniest guys I know, thanks for always being so willing to help me and Karen thanks for letting me take your husband!! Rick, funny man Rick, the sweet nothings you whisper in my ear? Any time man!! The singers: The Walkers, Bruce, Kate, Elisha, Deedee, Jen, Beth, Richie, Candice, Emily, Z & Tif. Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you! I take full advantage of your talent and you deliver. I really could not be more pleased with how it all turned out.

I took a check over to Shawn yesterday for $2,520. Won't put a dent in medical bills, but it will keep him and him mom in their place for a few months without worrying how they will pay for rent and utilities. Thanks to everyone who came, performed, supported with donation items, supported with donation money, and enjoyed a great night of entertainment for a good cause. Your reward is in heaven... because my syncro swim as payment just is not enough! From the bottom 0f my heart: THANK YOU!!

Woe es Me

I had surgery on Monday to remove a cyst that had formed on my wrist, pretty easy surgery. But they found some tendon problems that they were able to fix at the same time... not an easy recovery. My hand is in a cast for a week then in a splint for a month. So I am pretty limited in what I can do like wash, write, live... Two nights ago I woke up because my hand was really cold... well I had been sleeping with my hand out of the covers so I could keep it elevated. Last night my mom helped me with the solution to cold fingers.
I don't remember who gave me these socks a few Christmas's ago, but thanks!! They really came in 'handy'.

#61

#61 - Go to Vegas with Candice and eat one of "her" steaks. My besty is obsessed with steak and rightly so. I like a good piece of steak cooked just right. There is a steakhouse in The Paris Hotel that does steak right... and expensive! On our way to SoCal last week we stopped and had some steak. There were 6 of us for dinner that night because my BIL was able to join us too. The waiter in the pic above sang The Music of the Night to Candice for her birthday, what a voice!
