What better way to say goodbye?

Friday was the season finale of Battlestar Galactica - and what a frakkin good one. A few siblings and I watched it together Saturday night and figured what better way to say good bye to BSG than with Apollo Burgers and hot chocolate from Starbucks?
A few questions were left unanswered such as who is the last Cylon (discuss) and what is Starbuck (discuss)? So farewell to the BSG gang... oh how I will miss the beautiful Jamie Bamber and while Katee Sackhoff is wonderful, I will forever think that Mary McDonnell is the best actress of the series.

61-52 GO BEARS!!

What a great game!! Washington University in St. Louis played Richard Stockton College in the NCAA Div III National Championship Finals and the Bears won their second straight championship. The game was televised and you better believe I was camped in front of the television at 1! Stockton played a really great game and gave WashU a run for the title. The above photo was taken after the game, I put an arrow pointing to my man Dylan who was there to support the team even though a broken foot prevented him from playing.

Let's Go WashU!! Let's GO!!

I am a proud auntie to my two wonderful nieces and I come by it honestly; they are pretty great!! Well I am also a really proud nanny. I talk about 'my boys' sometimes. My boys are grown up now, 18 and 15, but were 4 and 1 when I started as their nanny. Brady is on the left and Dylan is on the right. Cute, right? I mean handsome, manly men...
They are both really cool kids and I love them a lot. Well I found out today that Dylan's college (yes he is in college now... yikes), Washington University in St. Louis, is in the NCAA Division III Final Four. Let's go WashU!! The Final Four game is Friday at 7 ET and the Championship Game is Saturday at 3 ET. Root!I used to spend hours and hours out back shooting hoops with this kid. I could not be more proud of him because not only is he an amazing athlete, but he is an amazing person. The news they are in the Final Four was only slightly overshadowed by the fact that D broke his foot in game 1 and will not be playing in the next 2 games. Poor guy. Nonetheless, I am determined to find this game on television and root for my new favorite sports team. (Go my favorite sports team!!)
When D was in high school still I used to follow his progress and this is my favorite article about D because I know that fridge well with all of the photos. See, proud nanny. Let's GO WashU!!
Post Script: The final game will be shown on CBS College Sports Channel on Saturday

Audition Notice - Seussical the Musical

"I can see that you’ve got quite a mind for your age!
Why, one Think and you dragged me right onto the stage!
Now, I’m here, there is no telling what may ensue
With a Cat such as me, and a Thinker like you!"

So says the mischievous Cat in the Hat at the onset of this fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza, "Seussical"! Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, Once On This Island, and Ragtime) have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and all of the Whos of Whoville!

The Midvale Arts Council will hold auditions for "Seussical" on Tuesday, March 31st at the Midvale Performing Arts Center 695 West Center Street (7720 South). Auditions for children will be held from 6 - 7 pm and auditions for those ages 16 and up will be held from 7 - 9 pm. Auditioners should come prepared with 16 bars of a song and a 30 second monologue from a Dr. Seuss book. The show will run June 19 - 27 at the Midvale Outdoor Stage in the Park. The show is being directed by Stephanie Johnson with musical direction by Tammy Morgan and choreography by Emilee Stokes. Headshots and resumes are preferred but not required. All roles are open and no appointment is necessary.

Prayers and Good Thoughts

Since I am a firm believer that prayers are answered I wanted to ask my friends and family to include my friend Shawn in your prayers. Shawn is a young man who has cancer and because of some recent treatment he has to have his knee replaced today; that includes taking some bone out of his leg too. He is really scared and frankly had a really rough year. Any prayers and good thoughts that can be sent his way would be appreciated.

#96 (1/4) - Audition for a play or musical

The last show I aduitioned for was in 2004, The Music Man. I am fairly certain that I got the part based on the fact that I was the oldest woman who auditioned. Slap a little make-up on me and BAM you get Eulalie MacKecknie Shinn. Last night I auditioned for The Odd Couple in Midvale and was more nervous than I probably should have been; but regardless, I was nervous. I have been tucked safely behind the ProTeam table for so long that I had forgotten what it was like on the other side. Besty found some funny monologues for me and I memorized one yesterday (not a good idea) and performed it about 5 times for my mom before I went over. It is fair at this point to mention a few things: 1) I have a cold and by the grace of DayQuil I could even stand 2) I was auditioning for REALLY good friends of mine who I knew would make me feel comfortable 3) It went much better than I thought it would and I only forgot one word in the audition piece (Cordilia.) I have not heard if I got a part or not, but frankly I just needed the experience of auditioning. It would be great to be back up on stage again and be someone else for a little while, so fingers crosssed.

Sometimes...

Sometimes I think to myself that when I get a little older I am going to be the crazy cat lady who lives alone at the end of the block. Then I realize that this will never happen... because I am allergic to cats.
